Dr Richard Allen

Richard C. Allen MD PhD FACS is an oculoplastic surgeon at Texas Oculoplastics Consultants in Austin, Texas and is Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Dell Medical School.  

He is the former Carolyn F. Elles Professor of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.  Dr. Allen attended Duke University where he received a BS in Chemistry followed by Baylor College of Medicine where he received his MD and PhD degrees. He completed a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the University of Iowa under the mentorship of Jeffrey Nerad and Keith Carter.  Dr. Allen is a member of ASOPRS, ESOPRS, and the Orbital Society.  He is the Immediate-past-president of ASOPRS and the Editor-in-Chief for the journal Orbit.  

Dr. Allen has authored over 125 peer-reviewed publications, was section editor for Oculoplastics and Orbit for Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, is a member of the editorial board for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Ophthalmology and Therapy and is a reviewer for over 30 journals.  

He has lectured extensively, nationally and internationally.  His on-line oculoplastic surgery video atlas is recognized worldwide.
